At 1014 pm edt, numerous showers and thunderstorms were affecting nelson and albermarle counties. the strongest storm was located over schuyler, or 19 miles north of bent creek, moving northeast at 15 mph. widespread wind damage and torrential downpours can be expected with these storms (radar indicated). Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts. Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. this could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. roadways may become blocked by downed trees. localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

The severe thunderstorm warning for east central augusta, west central albemarle and northeastern nelson counties and the eastern city of waynesboro will expire at 545 pm edt, the storm which prompted the warning has weakened.therefore the warning will be allowed to expire. however heavy rain and lightning are still possible with this thunderstorm. to report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. they will relay your report to the national weather service in sterling virginia.

At 527 pm edt, a severe thunderstorm was located over crimora, or 7 miles north of waynesboro, moving southeast at 20 mph (radar indicated). Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. Expect wind damage to trees and power lines. Locations impacted include, waynesboro, crozet, crimora, afton, nellysford, ivy, new hope, afton mountain, greenfield, batesville, greenwood and yancey mills.

At 504 pm edt, a severe thunderstorm was located near grottoes, or 9 miles northeast of staunton, moving southeast at 30 mph (radar indicated). Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

At 528 pm edt, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles east of wintergreen, or 12 miles southeast of waynesboro, moving northeast at 25 mph (radar indicated). Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. hail damage to vehicles is possible along with damaging wind gusts

At 1208 am edt, doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. this storm was located near charlottesville, moving southeast at 30 mph. locations impacted include, charlottesville, campbell, westmoreland, keswick, flordon, cobham, woodridge, newcomb hall, scott stadium, monticello, ivy, carrsbrook, north garden, overton, cismont, shadwell, barracks, boyd tavern and stony point.

At 1148 pm edt, doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. this storm was located near crozet, or 8 miles northwest of charlottesville, and moving east at 25 mph.

The severe thunderstorm warning for north central albemarle county will expire at 245 pm edt, the storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property. therefore the warning will be allowed to expire.

At 215 pm edt, doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. this storm was located over crozet, or 10 miles west of charlottesville, and moving east at 10 mph.
