The severe thunderstorm warning for south central bladen, northwestern brunswick and central columbus counties will expire at 630 pm edt, the storm which prompted the warning has moved out of the area. therefore the warning will be allowed to expire. however gusty winds are still possible with this thunderstorm. remember, a severe thunderstorm warning still remains in effect for portions of the same area of columbus and brunswick counties.

At 933 pm edt, doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. this storm was located near phoenix, or 8 miles northwest of leland, moving southeast at 30 mph. locations impacted include, burgaw, rowan, northwest, sandyfield, montague, currie, the borough, malpass corner, phoenix, batarora, kelly, riegelwood, point caswell, freeman, delco, wards corner, carvers, rooks, long creek and council. this includes the following highways, interstate 40 near mile marker 400. us route 74 between mile markers 404 and 429.

At 427 pm edt, doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. this storm was located over riegelwood, or 13 miles northwest of leland, moving east at 25 mph. locations impacted include, sandyfield, rooks, freeman, currie, delco, riegelwood, point caswell, kelly, bolton and east arcadia. this includes us route 74 between mile markers 410 and 422. a tornado warning remains in effect until 445 pm for eastern columbus county.
