At 723 pm edt, doppler radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. these storms were located along a line extending from near punta gorda to 8 miles south of charlotte county airport, moving southwest at 10 mph. penny size hail may also accompany the damaging winds. at 709pm edt, charlotte county airport reported a wind gust of 52 mph as these storms moved through. locations impacted include, punta gorda, port charlotte, charlotte county airport, babcock webb wma, solana, charlotte harbor, charlotte park, tropical gulf acres, cleveland, pirate harbor, murdock and harbour heights.
