At 1102 pm mdt, doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. this storm was located near cheraw, or near north la junta, and moving east at 35 mph. a wind gusts to 58 mph was measured at the la junta airport at 11:00 pm.

The severe thunderstorm warning for southeastern crowley and northeastern otero counties will expire at 915 pm mdt, the severe thunderstorm which prompted the warning has weakened. therefore the warning will be allowed to expire. this storm will continue to produce heavy rain and hail up to the size of dimes. dangerous cloud to ground lightning will also occur.

The tornado warning for northeastern otero and west central bent counties will expire at 200 pm mdt, the tornado threat has diminished, therefore the tornado warning has been cancelled. however, large hail and damaging winds remain likely and a severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for the area. however small hail is still possible with this thunderstorm. a tornado watch remains in effect until 700 pm mdt for southeastern colorado. remember, a severe thunderstorm warning still remains in effect for northeastern otero and west central bent counties.
