The severe thunderstorm warning for jackson and perry counties will expire at 500 pm cdt, the main part of the storms, which prompted the warning, have moved east and out of the area. lingering storm activity was still producing 45 to 55 mph winds in and near carbondale and carterville as the bulk of the storms continue to depart to the east. as a result, the warning will be allowed to expire. however gusty winds are still possible with these lingering thunderstorms. a severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 900 pm cdt for south central and southern illinois, and southeastern missouri.
